All, Please be sure to send PeteZ a big thanks for creating this new Quadrant Map for Alpha! I think he might be adding some more touches, but it looks great so far and works perfectly fine as is. So here you have it, Your new Quad:

Hi,
Thanks for posting the map. Its nice to contribute something to mtrek. Overkill for most players, nevertheless a map legend of sorts.
Wolf-359 is at 0 0 1. Lets consider that the center of the mtrek universe, and we’ll consider the z-axis to be the height, as nonsensical that may be in a universe. You are looking at the mtrek galaxy as we know it from above, at 0, 0 , much (a high Z-coordinate), right above Wolf-359.
From there, closer objects appear more bright on this map, while size differences are reserved for the actual size. So objects farther away don’t appear smaller, as they would in the real universe.
For a map, the X- and Y axis are most important, as the range on the Z-axis is much smaller compared to X and Y. X and Y should be equal in lenght, I hope to correct this in a later version.
Live long and prosper, folks!
